Your Staff and Elder
Board have developed a plan for Children’s Church which we hope will serve
our children's needs into the future. As promised last month, we gathered
information from various people in Cornerstone -- including parents, guardians,
teachers, staff, and other lay leaders. This input was then incorporated into
the plan outlined below. Our hope and prayer is that this plan will provide
greater opportunity for all of our Cornerstone family to learn the importance
– and the joy – of participating in Corporate worship of our God.
The 1st Sunday of every month, Communion Sunday, will be
devoted to family worship. There will be no Children’s Church during this
worship (1st hour). Parents, take the opportunity to explain the significance
of Communion to your children.
Children’s Church will continue to be held during worship
the remaining Sundays of each month for Kindergarten through 5th grades. Parents
and guardians of 4th and 5th graders are urged to consider helping their children
transition to worshipping with the rest of the Cornerstone body by having them
remain with the rest of the family during the 1st hour worship service.
Anne Parker and her teaching teams began using a Precept
curriculum when Children's Church kicked off on Sunday, September 21st.
All other Children’s Ministry activities on Sunday
mornings will remain intact. In the meantime, your Elder Board and Staff
will continue to develop short and long-term goals for all ministry areas.
One other related item that your Elders and Staff are praying about and considering
is how to better teach and equip our Congregation to raise Godly children and
youth. Your Elders and Staff ask that you join us in prayer, and please
share your thoughts and ideas with us.
